Who Qualifies?

Duration & Family Members
The visa is granted for one year and can be renewed for a further two years. Family members may accompany the holder and receive residence permits of matching duration, though they may not work or perform economic activity in Cyprus during their stay.
The Tax Angle
Digital nomads who spend more than 183 days in Cyprus within a tax year generally become Cyprus tax residents. That is often good news: new residents typically qualify for non-dom status, exempting dividends and interest from the Special Defence Contribution, and employment income may benefit from generous expatriate exemptions where the relevant conditions are met. Careful planning around residency day-counting and existing obligations abroad is strongly advised.
Application Practicalities
Applications are submitted to the Civil Registry and Migration Department, either from abroad or within Cyprus while on valid status. Documentary evidence of the remote working relationship, income and insurance must be precise; weak files are the leading cause of rejection.
