CIBA Meets with the President of the Republic to Advance Cyprus as a Leading International Business Hub

On Tuesday 31 of March, the Board of the Cyprus International Business Association (CIBA) held a high-level meeting with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, at the Presidential Palace, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening Cyprus’ position as a competitive and reliable international business and investment center.

The meeting took place in a particularly constructive atmosphere, allowing for a meaningful exchange of views on the role, challenges and future prospects of international businesses operating in Cyprus.

During the discussion, CIBA reiterated its strong support for the Government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the country’s competitiveness and international reputation. As the leading representative body of international businesses established in Cyprus, the Association emphasised its role in actively contributing to policy dialogue and reform initiatives.

Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of coordinated action between the public and private sectors. In this context, reference was made to the role of Invest Cyprus in promoting Cyprus abroad and attracting high-quality foreign investment. CIBA members, as direct users of Cyprus’ business infrastructure and services, were highlighted as key ambassadors of the country in the global marketplace.

The discussion further addressed a number of strategic priorities for the Cypriot economy, including:

  • the enhancement of the regulatory and institutional framework,
  • the strengthening of foreign direct investment,
  • the acceleration of digital transformation within public administration, and
  • the impact of ongoing geopolitical developments on the international business environment.

CIBA also underlined its intention to further institutionalise its contribution through the annual submission of a report to the President of the Republic. This report will outline the positions, challenges and recommendations of the international business community, aiming to support the continued development of Cyprus as a resilient and forward-looking business hub.

The President of the Republic welcomed the constructive and responsible approach of CIBA, stressing the importance of maintaining open channels of communication and continuous dialogue. He also expressed his intention to leverage the expertise and experience of CIBA members in shaping policies that will both retain existing foreign businesses and attract new investment to Cyprus.
